about

Driving to my childhood home and wondering if I have anything left there. Sweet gum trees start in the upstate of South Carolina and eventually disappear into Spanish moss. I remember revisiting my mom's house where I grew and and being annoyed she repainted all my hard efforts as a teen into sea green color.

lyrics

sweet gums turn to palms I feel Spanish moss on my arms
Telephone wires cross i know these are times that I've lost
Love drifts in a few doors fragments of my life before

and why would I, decide to come "home?"
and why can't I connect I’m alone
I see them all line up in a row
Born to die my small town woes
and so i move to major tones

Old rooms with new color sea blue makes the walls seem smaller
Billboards line the highway snake oil sell it buy it my way
green piers soaked in neon flashing signs of where i once belonged

Tell me fourteen teller, can you save this town from me?

and why would I, decide to come "home?"
and why can't I connect I’m alone
I see them all line up in a row
Born to die my small town woes
and so i move to major tones
